I have spent a lot of time looking at websites all over the country. I have witnessed one major problem, BORING!
The already designed template most of the DJs are using are designed for a polished corporate presentation and indicate no personality or excitement. Get Microsoft Front Page and have some fun. Make it look tacky and fun! You are supposed to be Entertainers, not a Mortgage company!
I did see some exciting intros, but they took too long to open up, and then the next page was....you guessed it...the same old corporate page.
Some sites had like 14 pages! HO-HUM!
Be original, it's tiring to see all DJ's telling the prospect that they are the best. And if I see another "How to Hire a DJ" page, I'll vomit. The traditonal Wedding people alraedy told your client all that. The real corker is the "my equipment" page, especially the ones that have pics of each component and it's spec (direct from the American DJ Products Website) Your prospect doesn't know anything about that page, and is not impressed. "We use the Denon ___ mixer to attain the perfect decible levels for your grandmother"
How about, "For additional money, the DJ will pop out of the Wedding cake, wearing nothing but a microphione!" (not true, but now that I have your attention let me show you what we can do)
I put in one ad... "If we do your Wedding, we'll do your divorce for half price!" Got a lot of response off of that one. Also thrown off of one wedding DJ referral system. BUT I DID 4 DIVORCE PARTYS! AND GOT MORE LINED UP!
Wake Up! Be creative! My site sucks, but I get great gigs!
Next week I'm doing a "Clothing Optional " RV Park for the 6th time!
Life is good, advertise like it is.
